FEATURES In skin, fungi produce nodules which enter the lymphatics, producing more nodules. Nodules then drain to the skin surface. Infections are slow developing once in the tissue, maybe over a period of years

GROUPS Most infections involve individuals who walk barefoot. Most infections involve barefoot agricultural workers.

DIAGNOSIS Culture organism from the infected tissue.

TREATMENT Surgical exclusion and antibiotics. oral fluorocytosine, amphotericin B |
