All of these Webpages, including the demonstration programs, have been tested with Netscape Communicator 4.05 and above and Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.0 and above. Remember, though, that the applets can only be viewed by browsers that support Java.
Netscape Navigator 3.0 can also be used to view this site, but with this browser the scrolling of Java applets is not always performed correctly. Also, drawing of the experimental data is sometimes interrupted before it is finished. If this happens to you, simply press "Start simulation" to refresh the applet view (and then GET YOUR BROWSER UPDATED!!!). The bug is corrected in Netscape Communicator 4.05 and is not present in Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.0. Sorry.
For the convenience of users, the data and parameter sets are built-in. The programs actually used by us to simulate the spatial organisation of gravitropic reaction is in C++ and additionally can perform statistical goodness of fit tests and download the external data set, which can be digitised from bitmap images.
Both this applet and the main program were written by Dr. Audrius Meškauskas during a doctoral fellowship in the School of Biological Sciences at the University of Manchester.
